I began creating art late in life.  With no formal art training, I pursued my artwork in fits and starts rather than in a smooth progression. I was fortunate to be named an Art Pop artist in 2017 and enjoyed seeing my work on billboards throughout the Charlotte area. I won recognition with the Light Space and Time gallery, participated in multiple art festivals, and had art in local galleries as well.

During the pandemic I all but stopped creating, overwhelmed with the state of the world. I worked in sketchbooks, and built small pieces, making art on index cards and tiny cardboard squares. My work shifted to a focus of creating with recyclable materials and exploring reuse. Recently I have engaged with the vibrant community of artists in Charlotte, participating in events with the Charlotte Art League and the Guild of Charlotte Artists.

I love abstract works and find myself drawn to developing abstract pieces. I took many online and in-person courses from amazing abstract artists, including Jane Davies, Jodi Ohl, Donna Downey, and Nancy Hillis. I experimented with various mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastels. I fell in love with paper in all its forms, and now employ it in all of my works, either as a substrate or a component of the art itself. I have experimented with abstracted florals and beach scenes, bicycles and landscapes, watercolors and pastels, oil and cold wax, figurative and illustrative styles.

Going forward, I plan to work more deeply with the ideas of reuse and recycling along with intentional hope. In my art, I am combining my love of math, science, text, numbers, color, shape, and line with my personal desire to investigate living lightly, minimizing our impact on the planet.
